Housing Associations Insurance

Protecting you, your property and your tenants

What is Housing Associations Insurance?

Housing Association Insurance protects your organisation against claims made by your tenants for mishaps such as a property dispute, accident or injury.

Why does my business need it?

As a social landlord, you have a duty of care towards your tenants, and if something goes wrong, having the right cover in place could save you financially and reputationally.

Examples of claims could include a faulty handrail injuring an elderly tenant or accidents occurring in common areas such as play areas and car parks. Defending your organisation against such claims can be a tiresome and expensive process, with no guarantee of success.

What does it cover?

Each housing association is unique, so your insurance policy will be tailored to your needs. Housing Association Insurance generally includes:

  • Buildings and Contents – covers accidental, malicious, and environmental damage and costs for repairing and replacing furnishings that have been stolen or accidentally damaged
  • Malicious damage by tenants
  • Rent Guarantee – covers loss of rent by guaranteeing monthly rent payments if a tenant is in arrears and temporarily unable to pay
  • Public Liability – protects you if a tenant, guest or member of the public is injured on the premises
  • Legal Expenses cover
