Do you find the terms Fixed Wire Testing, Electrical Installation Testing, or Hard Wire Testing confusing? You're not alone. These terms are often used interchangeably to refer to what is actually called an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR).
An EICR is not a legal requirement, but it is essential to ensure the safety of your workplace and comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974). It is like an MOT for your electrical installations, ensuring that your wires, meters, isolators, and lighting are in good condition and comply with the Electricity at Work Act (1989).
Regular EICRs can save you money in the long run by identifying issues before they become more serious and costly. The frequency of EICRs depends on your premises and ranges from every three months to every five years, according to IET Wiring Regulations BS:7671 (2018).
If you're unsure whether you need an EICR or how often you should have one done, our engineers can visit your site to perform a full EICR and issue a detailed report upon completion. We can also help you complete any remedial actions needed to get your workplace fully compliant.
